The difference to me is, when you do it as Jesus referred to, it is out of kindness and an open heart wanting to help another. When it is a socialistic endeavor, a person may be doing it because they are told to, or they feel like they have to, but they don't necessarily do it with an open heart and a desire to be of service.

Also, any form of government is a outside imposed control system, where others tell you want you can or can't do, or should or shouldn't do. An enlightened approach to life, where you realize your oneness with life and others, is self governance, freedom of choice and making choices which are beneficial to yourself and others.
If you need someone else to make your decisions for you, to rule your life, then go ahead, let your government dictate your life for you. If you do that, it is no longer your life, you are just a puppet with government dictates pulling your strings.
